American Girl
American girl makes dolls. Non-Barbie dolls. Dolls with a body form that a person could maintain without an eating disorder. We're talking the sort of wholesome, all-american, nothing-interesting-happening-here fun that the right likes to give their children.
So, when American Girl donated $50,000 to Girls Inc, there was a bit of a brewhaha. Seems that Girls Inc was taking a position that was anti-gaybashing and for a woman's right to choose. Things that most americans agree with. However, one should never underestimate the right's capacity for blowing something out of proportion. To quote a quote in newsweek:
Girls Inc is pro-abortion and pro-conception and pro all the other lies the secular world wants our girls to be believe.
It's one thing to be conservative. It's one thing to be religious. That there. That's just disturbing.

Are people still talking about this nonsense? I heard a report on the news about this months ago and this is just ridiculous. They don't ever go after Matel for creating Barbie - an unrealistic model of a woman, who by the way little girls can strip naked and force her to have promiscuous pre-marital sex with Ken. What sickens me the most is the "right" is targeting little girls and putting down (as you said) a wholesome doll that accompanies a book series that promotes "can do" attitudes, the American spirit, and moral integrity. These dolls and books are safe. Yes, they donate money to Girls Inc., who promotes similar things. The truth is, it's not that they actively support all those "evil", non- "right" things, it's that they take no political stand and tell girls to make up their own minds. It's the whole, "if you're not with us you're against us" mentality. All the "right" seems to want to do is create a diversion from all the conservative nonsense going on in government. I am disgusted by the things people do in the name of God...

Okay, first of all American Girl dolls are so awesome, and my Molly doll (with her WWII story books) taught me all about conserving resources, and the realities of war on the homefront, and creating treasures from trash. Secondly, when did ideas and opinions and choices become lies?
